The first thing to hit the pavement was the Atlas (at left front). Even though I had a partial tear in my left shoulder, I suffered no head injury. The helmet was cracked and had a gash in it that was approximately 3 inches long. Without it, I might not be writing this review. After the crash I went on line to look for a new helmet. I thoroughly researched helmets. I wanted to see which have the best safety ratings. Turns out that Atlas II is rated very highly. One of the reasons that it is rated highly is that it has no protuberances that can catch on something at the time of a fall. This helmet got better marks than some helmets costing 3 or 4 times as much.
